Kai Kristiansen model 42 rosewood chair

Solid rosewood Scandinavian chair by Kai Kristiansen. The model 42 was designed for Schou Andersen in the 1950s.

This chair displays an interesting combination of shapes : Z-shaped curved armrests and rounded back. This contrast is one of many elements that make this chair a coveted piece of furniture for Danish design enthusiasts around the world.

    Kai Kristiansen is a Danish furniture designer. After his furniture making apprenticeship in 1948 he was accepted at the Academy of Fine Arts. In the mid 50's he opened his own design office and collaborated with Schou Andersen for whom he designed the famous chair number 42. After a 60-years career, he still inspires us today.
